Life under Israeli occupation over the past several decades has severely damaged the Palestinian economy. Roadblocks, the separation barrier, and the decline of the tourism industry have left many Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza unable to find work.
One of the Shepherd Society’s key programs is providing grants to individuals who have the ability and determination to run their own projects. These grants enable people to rely on their own income, contribute to community development, and demonstrate initiative by starting their own businesses with the necessary resources (such as machinery). This support offers long-term sustainability. Many clients at the Shepherd Society are eager and ready to work if given the chance.
