During the Christmas season, Bethlehem witnessed a series of meaningful cultural, charitable, and community initiatives that reflected the resilience, faith, and unity of the Palestinian people, despite the ongoing hardships and challenges they continue to face.

As part of these efforts, the Shepherd Society provided support to 20 Christian institutions, reaffirming its commitment to promoting solidarity and the spirit of giving. This support aimed to strengthen institutions that serve the community and contribute to spreading joy and hope during the Christmas season, emphasizing the message of compassion, mutual care, and shared responsibility that lies at the heart of Christmas.

Holy Land Trust – Rock & Carol Christmas Night

Holy Land Trust organized the Christmas charity event “Rock & Carol Christmas Night” on Friday evening, 12 December, at Dar Annadwa Theatre in Bethlehem. The event featured a live performance by the band Suwwan and attracted a large audience, filling the theatre to full capacity. The evening was marked by joy, music, and positive energy, offering a space for collective celebration despite the pain and suffering experienced by the Palestinian people.

Although the current circumstances remain difficult, the atmosphere was vibrant and full of life, powerfully reflecting the resilience of the community and its ability to celebrate, remain hopeful, and affirm life even in times of hardship. The evening concluded with a strong message that hope itself is an act of resistance and life, and that the Palestinian people will continue to rise through faith, love, and mutual care.

The event aimed to support 100 families in need through the distribution of food parcels, as part of Holy Land Trust’s ongoing efforts to strengthen community resilience and respond to increasing humanitarian needs amid severe economic and living challenges. Holy Land Trust emphasized that the true message of Christmas lies in joy and giving, transforming pain into hope through collective responsibility, solidarity, and standing alongside affected families—keeping hope alive and contributing to a more humane and just future.

Al-Quds University Christmas Tree Lighting

In an atmosphere filled with joy and unity, Al-Quds University celebrated the lighting of its Christmas tree with the participation of religious leaders, official figures, and university students. The celebration embodied values of love, coexistence, and shared humanity.

University President Prof. Dr. Hanna Abdel Nour affirmed that lighting the Christmas tree carries a message of hope and peace, while religious leaders highlighted the meanings of human brotherhood and unity of destiny. The celebration included musical and scouting performances presented by university groups, officially marking the beginning of Christmas festivities on campus.

Sixth Edition of Bethlehem Star Nights Festival

The sixth edition of the Bethlehem Star Nights Festival was held at the courtyard of the Syriac Orthodox Church of the Virgin Mary in Bethlehem, creating a warm and joyful Christmas atmosphere that brought together families and community members.

The festival opened with a Bible reading on the birth of Jesus Christ, followed by the Palestinian national anthem, setting the tone for celebrations centered on hope, love, and unity. A variety of musical, cultural, and traditional performances followed, reflecting the spirit of Christmas and the rich cultural heritage of the community.

A special moment of the opening was the lighting of the church courtyard, spreading warmth and festive joy throughout the venue. One of the main highlights of the festival was the interactive Santa’s Factory, which offered a magical experience for children and families through creative and engaging activities inspired by the spirit of Christmas.

Over the two days, the festival featured theatrical performances, children’s entertainment, music, and interactive activities that filled the space with energy and happiness. A range of booths offering food, handmade crafts, gifts, and Christmas products added to the lively and welcoming atmosphere.

The festival concluded with positive feedback from attendees, affirming its success in spreading the spirit of Christmas, strengthening social bonds, and creating a shared space of joy, hope, and togetherness in Bethlehem.

Beit Sahour Municipality Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

The Christmas tree in Beit Sahour was lit in the presence of Father Jack, along with other religious and official figures and local community members, in a joyful and unifying celebration. The event included musical performances and traditional shows, highlighting the values of hope, love, and coexistence that Christmas represents.

The Arab Orthodox Scout Troop -Beit Jala-Palestine

The “It is Our Duty to Support Our People” campaign is held annually in Beit Jala from November 20 to December 20. During the campaign, donation boxes are placed in local shops, and after December 20, they are distributed to families in need. Normally, between 100 and 150 boxes are distributed, with each box valued between 300 and 400 ILS.
This year, due to the difficult economic situation, the campaign faces additional challenges, but it continues its mission to provide support and assistance to families in need.

People with Special Needs Celebrate Christmas

Youth Life Foundation organized a Christmas-themed theatrical performance for organizations working with people with disabilities, held at the Arab Women’s Union Association – Beit Sahour. Participating organizations included: Al-Basma Center (Arab Women’s Union), Yemima Foundation, Together for Life, Al-Malath Association, and Al-Waha Association.

The celebration featured a theatrical performance in collaboration with Young Life and was attended by 131 children. The Shepherd Society supported the event by providing gifts and cupcakes for the children.
